Session Times and Cost
I arrange session times to meet the needs of my clients. I am am potentially available every day between 9:00 am and 8:pm and appointments can be arranged over the phone, text or email. I try and accommodate what time and day works best for you. I am available over the Christmas New Years period except Christmas Day, Boxing day and New Years day and New Years Eve.
The cost for a face-to-face individual counselling session is $150 GST Inc per 60 minute session and my charge for couples is $180 GST Inc per 60 minute session. You are welcome to pay by cash, internet bank transfer, or cheque. Payment is expected at the end of each session unless prior arrangements have been made. If payment is a preventative issue please let me know. I have a lower payment structure for people on limited income or who find full payment difficult.
First sessions for couples often takes longer than an hour and 1 & 1/2 to 2 hrs is the norm. I work efficiently to ensure objectives of visit are met prior to session ending.
So many things can go wrong during couples counselling; perceived bias towards one of the parties due to gender differences; the probability of conflict between the parties within the session; people feeling judged or exposed; feeling like the other party is speaking more or is one up or winning! All of these dynamics need to be managed delicately and if not will result in a negative experience and couples dissatisfied with the service they have received. It also requires a specialized form of skill training and experience to ensure that common ground is established, points of agreement are established and motivation between couples in maintained to work against the problems and not each other.

It is normal practice in counselling for notes to be taken and discussed with a supervisor in order for the work to be monitored so that the best possible service can be provided. I will undergo supervision without mentioning your name and in a way that protects your privacy. I will report back to you any thoughts or suggestions I receive from others that may be of use to you.
I would like you to understand that anything I write down or record from my conversations with you is your property as well as mine. You have a right to be allowed access to my written notes about what was discussed with you. I will not release any information to anyone without a written authorization from you, except as provided for by law. If you have concerns about confidentiality or wish to put a limit on the forms of external supervisory discussions, please discuss this with me.
Notice of change or cancellation of appointment is necessary and appreciated. Your time slot is reserved exclusively for you so please arrive promptly to obtain your full session. If you are unable to attend an appointment a 24-hour cancellation notice is required. If you must cancel or reschedule due to an emergency, please notify me as soon as possible.

“If you could have had the conversations or taken the action needed to resolve the issues and concerns you are facing, you probably would have by now. That’s why clients come to see me, to speak about what is important to them in a managed and supportive setting so they can create the change they want to move forward”.
