Session Info

Session Times and Cost

I arrange session times to meet the needs of my clients. Please ask about availability over weekends if that suits you best. I am am potentially available every day between 9:00 am and 8:00 pm and appointments can be arranged over the phone, text or email. I try and accommodate what time and day works best for you.

The cost of a individual face-to-face 1 hr counselling  session is $150 and the cost of a couples session varies on ability to pay and is set between $150 – $180 inc GST.  I do charge by time used. Some sessions can be extened to longer than an hour depending on need.  You are welcome to pay by cash, internet bank transfer, or cheque. Payment is expected at the end of each session unless prior arrangements have been made.

I work efficiently to ensure objectives of visit are met prior to a session ending.

Regarding couples counselling there are so many things can go wrong; perceived bias towards one of the parties due to gender differences; the probability of conflict between the parties within the session; people feeling judged or exposed; feeling like the other party is speaking more or is one up or winning. All of these dynamics need to be managed delicately and if not will result in a negative experience and couples dissatisfied with the service they have received.

Couples work requires a specialized form of skill training and experience to ensure that common ground is established, points of agreement are tables and motivation between couples is maintained to work against the problem and not each other.

I am a father of two teenage girls whom I share with my ex-partner of seventeen years. I have direct experience with marital separation and I personally know how difficult relationships can be. This personal experience informs how I manage and assist others experiencing difficulties to address issues and concerns and to positively move forward.

I would like you to understand that anything I write down or record from my conversations with you is your property as well as mine. You have a right to be allowed access to my written notes about what was discussed with you. I will not release any information to anyone without a written authorization from you, except as provided for by law. If you have concerns about confidentiality or wish to put a limit on the forms of external supervisory discussions, please discuss this with me.

“If you could have had the conversations or taken the action needed to resolve the issues and concerns you are facing, you probably would have by now. That’s why clients come to see me, to speak about what is important to them in a managed and supportive setting so they can create the change they want to move forward”.
